3rd International Water Regulators Forum

The interdependence between regulatory functions and the relationship of regulators to key stakeholders, including service provides, governments and consumers are of increasing importance in the context of resilient and water sensitive cities.
The Forum offers a platform to bring together leaders of regulatory authorities with economic, quality of service, public health and environmental responsibilities related to water, wastewater and sanitation services.
This is a unique opportunity for regulators working across the entire water cycle to gather in an international setting, share their experience and create working relationships that support their leading role in the sector.

City Leaders Forum

The place to hear the voice of water professionals on sustainable urban water. The Forum is also a unique opportunity to bring together invited City Leaders (i.e.: sustainability managers, urban planning directors, city managers, and elected leaders) to share their water successes and challenges, while looking through the lens of the Principles for Water Wise Cities to identify the key success factors and bottlenecks to meeting locally the national goals that have been agreed to by governments around the world.

Utility Leaders Forum

The role of water and wastewater utilities is shifting from a primary focus on resource provision to leading and enabling resource stewardship. This transition requires a greater emphasis on community engagement, industry partnerships and investment decisions that consider the social, economic and environmental costs in an ever-changing environment and climate.
The utility leaders forum provides an opportunity for utility C-level executives to share, learn and discuss the pathways in adopting new technologies and practices that enable these transitions, finding ways in the innovation process to navigate political and regulatory constraints and also meet the changing demands of customers.

Emerging Water Leaders Forum

An opportunity for young water professionals – the emerging water leaders – to contribute to the development of an action agenda for tackling prioritised
water sector challenges. YWPs from multi-disciplinary backgrounds will discuss the solutions to these challenges, discuss the competencies required to build those solutions, and come up with actions for academia, industry, and for themselves. Together with senior professionals they will reflect on the proposed.

Wednesday 12 October 10.30 – 17.00

Basin Leaders Forum

The Basin Leaders Forum will convene decision makers and key stakeholders from some of the major river basins in the world. It will provide an opportunity for water resource managers from sectors across river basins to share knowledge and experiences and explore viable pathways to achieve sustainable management of basins. The Forum will be a stepping stone for development of an “Action Agenda for Sustainable Basin Management” which will provide guidance for a bottom up approach to basin management.

Science and Technology Leaders Forum

The Science and Technology leaders’ forum will bring together over 100 of the top scientists from leading research institutes, research funders and representatives of the utility and industrial sector to determine shared research agendas and application pathways to accelerate innovations in the sector. The outcome of the forum is to provide a shared vision for applied research and common agenda for collaboration amongst global research institutes.
