Biography

Sudhir Murthy is part of IWA Board of Directors and he is also an Water Environment Federation Fellow. He is the author or coauthor of more than 100 peer reviewed publications and over 250 conference publications. Dr. Murthy has received six U.S. patents for developing membrane, digestion and nutrient removing treatment processes.

Sudhir Murthy is Innovations Chief for the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water). He leads development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Authority’s innovation strategy, in coordination with the executive team and other stakeholders. He develops and oversees projects to foster a culture of innovation and advance the delivery of services.

Previously, at Clean Water Quality and Technology Sudhir Murthy managed the innovation initiatives for improving sustainability, pretreatment and laboratory for the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant. With significant experience implementing new commercial processes within public utilities, Sudhir Murthy was employed at CH2M HILL and was involved in the development of several new processes for utilities.
